We have a big drop from three wineries all around France, so let's go north to south:
Cyrille Sevin – Mont-Près-Chambord
Before his life in wine, Cyrille Sevin was interested in Math. I think that's sort of rare and I've always been fascinated with the man and his wines as a result. He was a professor in Paris for many years, but always had this dream of a vineyard. He went from buying a really run-down property in Cheverny, to slowly picking up small parcels, to retiring from his seat in Paris to focus solely on what would become an 11ha domain that is a wine-geeks paradise. He makes a lot of different cuvees. His wines are the perfect combination of typicity and idiosyncrasy. He has an uncanny ability to peel back layers of a terroir we all know so well to reveal something surprising. Une Lente Mélopée, for example, gives me all the richness and finesse I know and love from Chevery while also expressing a grassiness and punch proper to the variety. It all tastes good.

Clos des Mourres - Ingrid & Jean-Philippe Bouchet - Vaison la Romaine
Next, we head down to the Rhone Valley where two childhood lovers make some of my favorite wine. Again, a lot of wines, all of which with completely different personalities. In today's drop we have the "Pompette" series, all from a vineyard called the tile. It's a big square of clay and limestone, all on original, Caladoc rootstock. There's a lot of varieties growing here that make a rosé, a red and a white. Like the wines that landed a few weeks ago, these always punch above their price, and are always super solid. This is one of the few producers we have any kind of stock with, so pick some up early for something you can work with for a little while. That said, the white runs pretty fast.

Bascule – Fifi (Négociant) – Saint André (Domaine Léonine)
Last but not least, we have a brand new wine from Fifi's Bascule project, and you guessed it, it's orange! Yay! It's a maceration of Grenache Gris and Blanc done à la "Que Pasa" at domaine Leonine. The very sexy label courtesy of my dear friend Sophie Robson. In addition, we've got the new vintage of Babushka Rosé here at long last. This is another "Que Pasa" inspired wine, only this year there's about 40% Carignan in the blend. Delicious! The label here is from Fifi's daugher, Maya. Aww.
