Believe it or not, Marco Sferlazzo's passion is for red wine.

Seems that the news is very much out about Porta del Vento's sparkling "Voria" being back in stock. Hopefully there's enough to go around for the start of spring, but there's another bottling of rosé just around the corner so fear not! But so often in our zeal for clear bottles and gluggable, golden juice, we overlook wines that are made with more than a quick summer's day in mind. That is, a longer affair -- maybe with a meal -- wines to fall in love with.

Believe it or not, Marco Sferlazzo's passion is for red wine. That's like orange wine but macerated with red grapes (and yes, there's plenty of that as well). For whatever reason, we're only able to bring in about a fraction of Marco's reds in comparison to the whites and pet nats, and as a result they sort of fly under the radar. The labels aren't fancy, they come in dark Burgundy bottles, but they are some of the most realized and precise wines we work with. For starters, all the Perriconne comes from at least 60-year-old vines in pure limestone, on windswept hills: v good terroir. The Nero isn't much younger, and has a character completely its own, very likely due to the windy locale. The reds see years of aging in Slovenian Oak, and are released when the structure is perfectly integrated.

Remember how we're always bemoaning the fact that we drink all of our wines way too young, and with years of patience we might have even greater love and evidence for the superiority of real wine without additives? Well, check it out! Marco is fully certified organic and biodynamic with most cuvées made without the addition of the dreaded So2. Wow!

But I digress.... today we offer some fabulous if humble wines made with a lot of care and patience. I encourage you to try them. And yes, there's some orange wine as well.
